Boarding and Training
Boarding and training programs are a great option for dog owners seeking effective training for their dogs on an accelerated timeline. This option offers a structured and immersive learning environment under the guidance of experienced dog training professionals, giving them focused attention and consistent training throughout their stay.
In our Board and Train programs we break down obedience training into three critical phases. In the first phase, we focus on teaching dogs heel position, sit, down, and come using positive reinforcement. Then, in the second phase, we incorporate leash pressure over those skills and begin proofing learned behaviors around distractions. Finally, the third phase involves layering an e-collar (remote collar) over the obedience for off leash reliability and high distraction proofing.
Living with your dog shouldn’t be stressful. Our board and train programs will get your dog back on track, quickly and humanely.
Train with SWK9
OUR BOARD AND TRAIN PROGRAMS
Puppy Training
Crate training, potty training, socialization, no jumping or biting, obedience and more.
Basic Obedience
Leash walking, coming when called, sit, down, place, and manners around distractions.
Advanced Training
Training under heavy distractions, off leash dog training, and field trips to public spaces.
Each individual phase includes four private lessons following the boarding portion of the program, so we can make sure you know how to maintain the new training, use the equipment, and keep your dog’s skills sharp as we progress through the phases. These private lessons are just as important as the boarding portion, as training only works if you work it! If you prefer to go through all three phases at once, we would have you do 4 private sessions here before the boarding phase, then 4 sessions at your home after the boarding portion has been completed. Doing it this way also discounts the total program cost $2500! Board and train programs are great for owners who are looking for training results quickly, but still require a high level of owner commitment to learn how to maintain their dogs training skills.
Puppy Board and Train
About the Training Program
Puppy training is a complicated process that can be overwhelming. There is so much information on the internet about how train a puppy: how to socialize them, what to do when they bite, how to potty train them, training them to be happy in their kennel… and most of that advise online can be very conflicting! When you choose Southern Warrior K9, you are teaming up with a professional who has extensive puppy raising and training experience. This means you’ll have personal, individualized guidance to navigate the puppy raising process, minimizing mistakes and decreasing stress and frustration!
Our puppy program is specifically designed for puppies between the ages of 3 and 6 months of age, and is focused on teaching the puppy how to learn. We incorporate clicker work (marker training) during this phase and start teaching the foundation for future obedience skills, such as how to “go away” from the handler, come back when called, sit and down. All future obedience exercises are simply a combination of those critical foundation skill, which means future training will be streamlined and more effective. We also work on crate training, creating appropriate potty training schedules, and home manners like not pulling on your pant leg, biting, jumping, etc. while your pup is staying with us.
At the end of the boarding portion of program, you will work with your trainer via private dog training lessons weekly for four weeks, so you can maintain your puppies new training skills and learn how to better handle and manage them.
Training Outcome
Our puppy program is great for socialization, confidence building, and beginning obedience:
- Beginning leash work
- Name recognition
- Luring “sit” and “down”
- Teaching the puppy to move away from the handler
- Appropriate play and social interaction
Recommended For
Puppies over 12 weeks of age. For puppies over 6 months old, please check out our Basic Obedience program.
Program Cost
Our puppy board and train program starts at $2,500, and includes boarding, training, and 4 private lessons. We recommend all puppies continue on to our Basic and Advanced Obedience programs as they continue to mature and grow.
Basic Obedience Board and Train
About the Training Program
Our Basic Obedience Program is a board and train camp that helps your dog master basic training skills while also working to eliminate “bad” behaviors like jumping on guests, leash-pulling, and running through open doors. During this 3-4 week training program, your dog trainer will work hands on with your dog every day to teach them important basic obedience commands. Of course, it’s not all work and no play; our dog trainers will make sure your pup feels right at home and gets plenty of exercise and attention.
At the end of the program, you will work with your trainer via private dog training lessons weekly for four weeks, so that you have the confidence, ability, and knowledge to keep up with the training skills at home. This dog training program is designed to give you fast results and provide your dog with an amazing on-leash training foundation, so that you’re setting good habits with your dog and preventing bad ones from solidifying.

Interested in Board and Train?
Here’s how we tackle tailoring our Board and Train program around your dog’s needs:
When you apply, we contact you to evaluate the issues you are having with your dog and discuss the specific training you are seeking. The more we know about your pet, the better we can address your goals.
At the start of your training program, we review the training goals to make sure we are all on the same page, go over paperwork, and check your dog in so we can get started!
Over the next few days, we spend time evaluating and getting to know your dog. We begin by teaching the dog our system using a clicker, so that your dog begins to associate the clicker with a positive reward (food). This motivates your dog to engage in training and helps them bond with us. As we teach your dog which behaviors result in rewards, your dog becomes eager and happy to work and offer those desired behaviors.
Each phase of our Board and Train Dog program typically lasts for three weeks. However, because we are results based, we will work with your dog on your dog’s timeframe. This means that we may ask to keep your in the program for a few extra days to ensure it has mastered the course–all at no extra cost to you. We want you to be satisfied with your pet’s progress. We may ask you to join us for training sessions, usually once or twice through the program, so that we can help you understand what your dog is learning and prepare you for future success at home.
When your pup’s training is complete, we will spend time discussing everything your dog has learned and exactly how to maintain it! Over the next four weeks, you will join us for once-a-week private lessons to ensure that you can maintain lasting results. You can also call us at any point in in the future if you have any issues that crop up or need any refresher or advanced lessons. We want to support you and your dog, throughout their entire life.
